2) How effective is the combination of your main product and ancillary texts? - Evaluation

I found that the ancillary tasks linked in well with the final product as they represented it in a way that was supportive of the film, they really made the film look like one you would see on television and gave it a professional feeling that the production as a whole was a success.

With this in mind, it was apparent that the film review gave "The Following" a more effective personal touch, due to the way it was complimentary and specific in the way it spoke of the film. The review achieved this through mentioning specific moments in the film and treated them with a sense of positivity and suggested that the film as a whole was a success. While mentioning the major parts of the film it did not give away any spoilers or by any means throw the outline of the story into the readers faces. It did however give them something to wet there appetites with and to become excited to see the production. It also is very descriptive about how the actors got into their roles and explains what their story is and how the main characters are all complex.

Furthermore the poster stuck to the conventions of the short film as it contained an image of me and Stephen with the surrounding part of the image blurred out. Automatically because of this the audience can assume that Stephen is the one stalking me and because the outline of the image is blurred it suggests that all of his focus is on me and he is unrelenting on his hunt. Moreover "The Following" written across the left hand side of the page, is highlighting that this will be the main concept and theme of the film and the audience already get a brief idea of the film and a vague outline of the plot which would encourage people to watch it if they are interested in this genre. With the image also, the audience have a clear idea of who the follower is and who the victim is, due to the actors body language, where Stephen is clearly starring at Jack who has a concerned and worried look across his face which the audience would infer that Jack was the victim along the plot. Potentially this gives a sense of the unknown as when they begin to watch it they will notice that in fact Stephen is the victim at the beginning however there is a considerable role reversal with Jack then becoming more and more bothered by the events that take place.
